Colleen Denise Weatherspoon is the Co-Founder and Co-Principal of IW Premier Investigations & Advisory, bringing more than twenty-one years of distinguished federal law enforcement law and public service experience to the firm. A Veteran Federal Special Agent and trusted investigative executive, she is recognized for her leadership, discretion, and proven ability to navigate high-stakes matters involving:

Over 21+ Years of Experience

Mrs. Weatherspoon served as a Special Agent (1811 – Criminal Investigator) with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, where she led and directed complex criminal, civil and congressional investigations across multiple jurisdictions. Her work encompassed sophisticated healthcare fraud schemes, financial crimes, identity theft, grant and contract fraud; regulatory violations requiring strategic investigative planning and multi-agency coordination. Her investigative leadership contributed to significant prosecutorial outcomes and monetary recovery of 70+ million dollars of federal funds through civil enforcement actions.

 

Throughout her federal career, Mrs. Weatherspoon earned a reputation for operational excellence and executive leadership. She served on the National Healthcare Strike Force Team in the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. In addition, she routinely served in acting supervisory capacities, including Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge, where she provided oversight of investigative operations, reviewed complex investigative matters, mentored developing agents, and represented agency leadership during critical engagements and strategic initiatives.

 

Her investigative expertise extends beyond traditional law enforcement methodologies and includes financial analysis, fraud detection, FinCEN analysis, investigative intelligence development, covert surveillance operations, witness and subject interviewing, prosecutorial coordination, search and arrest warrant preparation, and multi-agency trial preparation. She has collaborated extensively with federal and state law enforcement agencies along with United States Attorney’s Offices to address matters involving public trust, fraud, and organized criminal conduct.

 

In addition to her investigative accomplishments, Mrs. Weatherspoon possesses extensive experience in executive protection and dignitary security operations. She served as a Federal Use of Force Instructor and Regional Body Worn Camera Coordinator. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Regional Lead Protection Detail Agent for the Director of the CDC, directing and supporting sensitive protective missions nationwide. She also led numerous protective assignments for senior federal White House cabinet members while maintaining the highest of operational readiness, discretion, and safety.

 

Prior to her federal service, Mrs. Weatherspoon developed a comprehensive investigative foundation through service with the Florida Department of Children and Families Office of Inspector General and the Second Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, where she conducted high level felony investigations such as First Degree Murder & Human Trafficking along with misdemeanor investigations including Drug Possession and DUI all sharpened the investigative instincts that would later define her federal career.

 

Her professional achievements have been recognized through multiple honors, including designation as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in Economic Crimes, Special Achievement for Affirmative Civil Enforcement, Office of Inspector General Exceptional Achievement Award, Tampa Regional Financial Crimes and Inspector General Council Teamwork Award & Public Safety/Awareness Award, US Department of HHS-OIG Miami Regional Office of Investigations Excellence Award and commendations for advancing investigative innovation and protective service excellence.

 

Mrs. Weatherspoon holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Criminal Justice and Anthropology studies from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and obtained the following advanced training and certifications:
